4/3/2023 0 Comments Robin malody singer tucsonSoon, the disciples of that sound became foundations-from The Byrds and Mike Nesmith's Monkee country sides, to the Beau Brummels, Flying Burrito Brothers and even The Band. Meighan worked it as hard as anyone, and later, as much emotional and physical suffering saw his music fade, he miraculously reinvented himself in a difficult career.Įven as I boy I knew The Eagles a slick sham, but they opened doors for truer electric-pop stoner cowboys, and The Meighan Band fit loosely into the era's country rock, that mostly California sound whose roots trace back to Bakersfield and Buck Owens, and Gene Clark's Missouri bluegrass youth, and The Dillards. "Capitol was full of iconic people and iconic recording studios," Meighan says today, "and for a guy in my position it was as big an opportunity as anyone could hope for." Didn't hurt Meighan sported pop-star looks. In those pre-internet days, signing to a major label was all-in, the only way to take your music to the masses, the one chance to butterfly your wildest dreams. Perry and Palladino loved The Bob Meighan Band. The world would sound different if Palladino hadn't existed. His mixing, editing and production work, from Sinatra and Nat "King" Cole to McCartney and The Band, and so many more, helped shape the entire pop spectrum, the '50 through the '70s. Palladino, a golden-eared record producer, mixer and studio innovator, was the first engineer Capitol ever hired (in 1949), and later named A&R chief, who spent 33 years at the label. The record deal, helmed not by some company upstart, but by seasoned label men Rupert Perry and John Palladino. They were convinced when they heard Meighan, saw the packed Pawnbroker houses, the mad Tucson Citizen press, learned of heavy local airplay (KWFM and Phoenix' KDKB), that they'd resonate emotionally in a national and international consciousness. First, John "Johnny D" Dixon, then a Capitol sales rep (now an Arizona music historian), forwarded Meighan's Tucson-recorded indie album The Dancer to the label's A&R department. It is easy to see how The Bob Meighan Band landed their major-label recording contract with Capitol Records, signed right out of The Pawnbroker on Tanque Verde Road. How circles of life are built on resilience of great songs. Only years later did I realize I was listening to the same band on the radio, at the same time.īeyond that era's context, Meighan's tunes still sway on emotional levels. Barry off at his first dishwashing job at The Pawnbroker bar-restaurant, hearing the Bob Meighan Band live, and he'd return home woozy, telling of an insanely packed house of Meighan fans, how he thought the band "total rock stars" and gushing of what lives they must lead. Bob Meighan supporting Little Feat, Phoenix Giants Stadium, 1973.īob Meighan's voice has come full circle and I can ascribe his songs to familiars time-stamped to adolescence, hiding from my parents in my big brother Barry's bedroom on Tucson's eastside, the window crammed with the sad suburban evening, KWFM radio on.

4/3/2023 0 Comments Rocket league switchIn addition to all these game types, one of the most integral parts of Rocket League is its reward system. When playing online, the game automatically supports cross-network play with players on PC and Xbox One, but this can be easily turned off in the game’s settings. All of these game types can be played either online or locally, and you can even play against AI characters if you’re on the go. Four-on-four Rumble is Rocket League at its most chaotic, and it’s total nonsensical fun. Ten seconds into the game, each player is granted a power-up, ranging from swapping places with an opposing player to punching the ball straight ahead, or even freezing the ball in place, and you get a new power-up every ten seconds after using one. Think of it as Soccar, only with power-ups. The final game type-and my personal favorite, aside from straight Soccar-is Rumble. It’s an interesting concept, but it’s a shame you have to go outside the game to find out how Dropshot works. The ball itself will break apart as well, and the more damage the ball has taken, the more damage it will do to the floor panels. The idea here is players smash the ball into breakable floor panels, and these floor panels break apart for players to then score through the gaps. Another mode, Dropshot, is arguably the weakest mode of the bunch, as the rules aren’t apparent if you just jump into it. The interesting thing about Snow Day is that the physics of the puck vary from that of a ball, so that’s something to be cognizant of when playing. Another game, Snow Day, trades out the ball for a giant puck and essentially becomes a game of car hockey. Techniques like aerial hits are more necessary in Hoops, and it’s definitely a fun alternative game. There is also a basketball game called Hoops, where you have essentially giant basketball hoops, and you have to try to hit the ball upward for it to then fall into the hoops to score. Though Rocket League’s aptly named “Soccar” mode is the main attraction, it’s not the only game type on offer. These more difficult techniques take time to master, to be sure, but Rocket League is still fun, no matter one’s skill level. Once you’ve learned your Battle Car’s basic functions, you can then start learning more high-level techniques, such as aerial hits and properly launching off walls. Learning to control your Battle Car and how the game’s physics work does take some time, but once you’ve played a few matches, you start getting into the flow of the game. On paper, the idea of Rocket League might sound ridiculous, but in practice, it’s pure fun. The player controls their own semi-customizable Battle Car and can drive, jump, flip, and boost-either solo or with one to three other teammates-to try and hit an oversized ball into the other team’s goal to score points. How does such a monumental title hold up on Nintendo Switch? The answer: Rocket League on Switch is a competent port that nails mostly everything that made the game such a phenomenal hit.Ī follow-up to Psyonix’s Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars, the more conservatively named Rocket League’s premise is a simple one: soccer with rocket-powered cars. Since then, the game has surpassed $110 million in revenue and, as of last year, had over 15 million players across three platforms-not to mention Rocket League is currently one of the most popular eSports titles to date, thanks to Psyonix’s Rocket League Championship Series. More options are good, but I feel like 60 FPS would be my preferred way to play the game, so hopefully it still looks good.Rocket League was one of the year’s surprise hits when it launched as a free PlayStation Plus title back in 2015. The new update also adds video capture using the Switch's capture button. The trade off here is getting more and better visual effects during the game, like lensflare, dynamic shadows, depth of field, and more. Quality mode bumps the docked resolution up to 1080p, 720p handheld, and 30 FPS. There is some dynamic resolution scaling to keep the framerate up, but Psyonix describes it as infrequent. In performance mode, the resolution is 900p when docked, 720p in handheld, and 60 FPS. Now, the choice is left to the players between performance mode and quality mode. Psyonix has added a Quality Mode to Rocket League on Switch, bumping the resolution up with added effects at the cost of framerate.Īt launch, the focus was getting Rocket League running at 60 FPS, which dynamically changed the resolution from 720p to 576p, usually being on the higher side when docked and the lower side in handheld mode. “A simple palette is the most flattering to every body type,” he says. “Men often buy a bigger size because they think looser is more comfortable,” he says, “but that can lead to extra fabric that can bunch under your pants.” The ideal fit is snug but comfortable, often with a little stretch.Īs for style, patterns can be fun, Marden says, but they’re not for everyone. “And definitely have a few special pairs, either for slim-fitting pants or for specific activities and sports.”įor instance, cotton briefs works well most of the time, but opt for stretchy, moisture-wicking, or anti-microbial fabrics for the gym or warmer months.įinding the right style and fit isn’t always easy, but prioritize fit, advises Marden. “You should own at least 10 pairs,” Matthew Marden, a New York City-based men’s stylist, tells Men’s Journal. Today’s pairs are comfy, sturdy, and stylish. Men’s underwear has come a long way since the 80-grit cotton loincloth you wore as a kid. A lot of creativity went into all of these items, and though some may not be worthwhile, you can break down any unused equipment or weapon into bonus XP. The beginning levels have standard stuff like dual SMGs or a rocket launcher, later levels have miniguns, laser cannons, sawblade launchers and more. Armor items can add good buffs as well, such as detecting hidden enemies or extending ink collecting range. The default is some kind of ice blast that briefly freezes everyone on screen, though I also found turrets and gun toting drones. There area also some special equipment items. You can find a number of grenade mods too, like a cluster bomb or a vampire grenade that heals you. Plenty melee weapons, each with different stats and passive buffs. 4/3/2023 0 Comments Portal bundle steam codeThe Humble Bundle concept is really great and I'm glad it's working out, but the one thing it doesn't do is accurately measure value, because it's combining too many concepts into one payment. So the price doesn't necessarily equate to the value. After your payment, you will be instantly sent a unique activation code by our automatic delivery system, called Autokey. Includes two items: Portal Portal 2 This product is a unique and unused CD Key which can be activated on Steam. They are cheapskates, they are wealthy donors (Notch), they are college students just giving what they can, they are people who already own the games but want to throw some more money at the devs, and they are charitable donors who might not even be into gaming. This product is a brand new and unused Portal Bundle CD Key for Steam. because I already had 3 of the 5 games but I wanted the two remaining, and I figured if the devs had their choice between me buying the whole bundle for a lower price or not buying it, they would want me to choose as I did.Īnyway, my main point here is that there can be a lot of reasons people pay what they do. I personally paid less than I normally would have (still well over the average) on a previous bundle. Others might be buying even though they've already bought the games because they want to support indie gaming. Some people buy in just to donate, and probably never even play the games. Your game is now viewable in the Library tab and is available to download/install when you’re ready. Click this and then select Activate a Product on Steam Enter your unique code that's displayed on the 'Orders' page of and follow the prompts to activate. I hope the HB people don't read too much into the average purchase price. Open the Steam client, login and locate the Games tab on the top menu. It takes a special kind of lowlife to take advantage of indie developers doing something for charity. Good! I love the pay what you want concept, but there should be a minimum just so the donors (developers, HB website) don't get screwed by people like that. But we know Shackers wouldn't be involved in such a vile practice. Showing their own humble side, the organizers say that they work with users on a case-by-case basis if they cannot afford the new $1 Steam key minimum that promise "not to resell it or otherwise abuse it."Ĭonsidering the intention of the Humble Indie Bundle is to give to multiple charity organizations, including those that support children in need, and the indie community, it's quite disturbing that this is happening. "It's a lose-lose situation for the indie developers, charities, Valve, and Humble Bundle," the blog added. GamerPower connects gamers to legitimate. In a blog post on the Humble Blog, the organizers noted that the one penny minimum is "unfair to legitimate entrants and is definitely not what we wanted to encourage with Humble Indie Bundle 4." Here are some other steps you can take to prevent and get rid of fleas. However, flea spray alone may not be enough to keep your furry friend safe. How To Keep Your Pets Protected From Fleasįlea spray is an essential item for any pet lover whose dog or cat spends a lot of time outdoors and lives in an area that’s highly susceptible to fleas. Check the description of your flea spray carefully to see how quickly it can produce results for the size of your infestation. However, if you have a large infestation, it may take days or weeks to fully eliminate the problem. Some flea sprays kill the insects on contact, which can be useful if your dog has picked up a flea and you need it removed right away. However, if you have a flea issue in a specific area, you can get just enough spray to treat it. If your pets spend a lot of time outside and you anticipate needing to reapply the flea spray monthly, weekly, or daily, opt for a large container. You can determine how much spray you need by considering how often you plan to use it and how large the infestation is. Quantityįrom one-gallon jugs to five-ounce bottles, flea sprays come in different quantities. Other sprays work by killing or detaching fleas that live on your pet’s fur, bedding, and collar. However, because they’re usually made from harsh chemicals, you have to leave the area clear for a period of time after application. They typically kill the fleas on contact. With some flea sprays, you apply them to the area of your home or yard where you have seen fleas. They typically target a range of common household insects, including bed bugs, ticks, mosquitoes, ants, and spiders. Some sprays work on other pests in addition to fleas. Some chemicals, including imidacloprid, fipronil, permethrin, methoprene, and pyriproxyfen, are known to cause health problems for animals. If you’re using a chemical-based spray, read its ingredients closely to see what it’s made with. However, natural sprays may be more expensive and less effective. Chemical-based sprays may give you pause if you’re using them on your pets or around your children. Ingredientsįlea sprays are either made with synthetic chemicals or natural ingredients. To determine which flea spray works best for your infestation, there are several elements that you should take into consideration. 4/3/2023 0 Comments A cinderella storyAustin dumps Shelby a few hours before the dance.
